So my fish are getting older.
So far they have lived peacefully.

4 rainbow cichlids
4 blue eye cichlids
2 fire mouth.

I’ve noticed today the rainbows seem to be fighting? Mouths open going head to head I assume this is fighting and not mating?
I believe I have 2 males and 2 females.

The fire mouths also seem to be hassling each other but it’s more like spinning around rubbing?

Will add some photos

It's probably both. The hormones are flying and the fight for breeding territory and dominance is on.

They are fighting in my opinion, especially the photo of the firemouth, but open gills are to display dominance
