If there is a bright spot in the universe I'm in t
My betta is laying on the bottom of his tank barely breathing, he wont move, eat, or do anything. He is very white and has lost alot of his color. He hasn't eaten anything in the past few days and has now gotten to the point of not even moving. I have done a water change, used some medicine, nothing is heling. I need some help as soon as possible!!!!!!

I hate to admit this cause it's rather embarassing. I don't have the money to go and buy test equipment. Is there something I can use around the house, any little trick I can use to find these things. I know the test kits are cheap, I'm going to go cash in my change jar tomorrow and try and get some. Thanks, more help would be great!

What kind of a fish is it?
Sean
Sorry, I re-read your post, and saw it was a betta. What other fish are in with it? What size of aquarium? Did you cycle?

Update! I Forgot to mention this earlier cause I am and was panicing. I noticed this morning that his tail has been trashed. It is black and grey, torn apart. There is a filter in the tank and since he has not been moving around much he just layed down by the filter and must have been there for quite awhile and gotten sucked in or at least been trashed by the filter. I don't know how else to explain it. I hope so much that I can help the Ralpinader get back to his old self. I rescued him from certain doom, he was given to me by a person who never took care of him, had him in a 5 inch by 3 inch bowl, unfiltered water, straight tap water, and they let the water get so filthy sometimes I couldn't see him!! He was given to me cause I think they knew how much it bothered me to see the fish in this enviroment. I went out scraped together money, got him a tank, heater, filer, plants, and decor. He means a lot to me, please any more advice would be great!

I don't know much about all this yet as am very new to it all myself but there is a food called promin it sinks so he may be a bit more inclined to eat it. It's really great and should help with his colour loss. I use it with my betta and he has never been betta on it. Get the orange and white one as the casing comes in different colours. It's not very expensive either and may be just what he needs !! Keep us updated !

:* fingers crossed for you.

It's too late. He just passed on. I'm glad that he isn't in pain anymore. I have no idea what happened. I'm just going to think about how excitied he would get when I came and sat down by him and how he would jump out of the water whenever I was getting ready to fed him. Thanks for the help, long live the Ralphinader!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( :-(

Will you get another ? Where abouts are you ?

Sorry to here he passed on, he's not suffering anymore though :byebye:

So sorry to hear about your fish. You do sound like you really care for fish and its nice to see. Hope you manage to scape the pennys together to get what you want one day soon. Perhaps you could keep the 2.5 gallon tank as a quarentine tank, but if you do you will need to keep at least one fish in it to keep the bacterial from dying.

While you are saving use this time as an excuse to learn as much about the type of fish you want and the best ways to care for them. The more you know in advance of getting fish the better.

Good Luck

Thank you skimpy. I tried to take care of him as best I could he was doing so great for months, I just don't understand it he died in less than a day. It all just happened at once, there weren't any warning signs. He was full of color, eating, had tons of energy, and the next day he just lost all of it. Thank you again this will most defiently be a learning experience, but a sad one at that.
