I have a 180 litre tank with 4 Denisoni Barbs just been added. One of them has a cloudy eye with a tiny white dot on it. Another has a white spot on his nose that comes and goes every few days. Now 2 of them have started flicking themselves against plants/tank bottom.

Any help appreciated...

When were they added and how? What are your water parameters?

The cloudy eye could be damage caused by nets, or bad water quality, either in your tank, or in the store's water. The white spot, on its own, could be anything or nothing and the scratching could be a reaction to the new water, chlorine, ammonia, pH changes or disease. I would not start a regime of different treatments, but instead check your water is ok, the tank is clean and perhaps add a broad medication like Quick Cure in half doses in case of disease.

The cloudy eye on its own is nothing to panic over, and panic could kill the little guys, so take it slow, get the water right and do go ripping their home apart yet!

it sounds like the beginning of ich, they will often try to flick or scrape themselves about on rocks or deco. They could have come home sick from the fish store. There are some medication treatments for ich if that is what it is. a natural aid that i have seen used with or without medication, is adding a prescription amount of aquarium salts to your water and raising temp to 82 degrees slowly. I only had it once in my very first tank, and it came from the fish store. Ich will be tiny white dots, it will effect their eyes, among other parts too, but keep an eye on them so it doesnt spread.
