I raise bettas and I have recently been having some problems with mouth fungus (columanaris or how ever you spell it) well sadly all four of the fish died within 5 days of me knowing they had mouth fungus. I treated them with Maroxy, Maracyn, and Maracyn 2. Three of them died the first couple days of treatment the other lived and seemed to be doing just fine until today on her last day of treatment she died. I have many many bettas (28 to be exact) and I don't want this to happen again. How do I prevent this from happening again. I really don't want to loose anymore of my bettas. I have heard that alot of diseases don't like salt, I have salt in the tank (1 tsp per 5 gallons is what I heard) Is there anything else that I can do to protect my babies from mouth fungus and other deadly diseases. Please Help thanks. It has been such a sad day, the fish that I named after my grandma who died in 2000 died today. I had bonded with that fish so much, I even had her coming to me when I called her name. I loved her so much and hope she has a wonderful life in heaven. R.I.P Millie :rip:

Ditto on wilder, I wouldn't bother with the salt though, since your in the states you could try getting some indian almond leaf from a LPS/LFS - great for betters, adds tannins, drops ph a little and possible some other stuff that's great for betta's. If you cant get any of that try a but of "black water tonic" or similar product, you could also try a bit of peat in your filter(s) if used, or failing the above try dropping your PH down to about 6.5 (works for me) and LOT's of clean water

Okay thank you so much Katchan, I will try those things. Wilder sorry to hear about your mom. I just recieved 15 new crowntail females yesterday from a breeder that I buy from often (he sent too many lol) and one looks just like my poor Millie.
