And I like your main tank without plants.

Wow that is a nice looking tank! I wish I could make something like that for a grow out tank .

LFS was closing, killer deals on their tanks as they had to get rid of them. I really couldn't help but buy some tanks, right guys? I've still got a few empty in my spare room too. Few 10s and a 30gal.

Yeah when you see a great deal you HAVE to buy it. ;)

You need to follow them down to the letter. :D

they also had a 150gal complete set up (filter/lighting/stand/substrate) for $250CAD... If only i had enough room there would have been no question... sad that I couldn't get it but the 40gal was a super deal anyway

As I said, I would have gone for that 40g. I don't have room for a 150g setup either, and that 40g is just what I'm looking for at a nice cheap price. Good job!

I have heard that the best thing to catch fish is to do it at night. When all the lights are off they go to sleep, sneak in there with a head torch and just scoop them out :)

Or for the less night ninja inclined.. just throw a blanket over the tank to make it dark for an hour. then lift a corner so you can get into the tank and net the ones you want.

cichlids may be a challenge as they might hide at night.

your tank looks awesome! one of my favorites, but i would HAVE to put a black background on it, or a background of some sort, just to finish it off.

good job finally catching the fish! and good luck with the fry! i have about 100 rainbow cichlid fry in 3 different size stages, and its getting difficult to keep them seperated so they dont eat eachother! lol
