I have only two fish and my bigger female molly bullies my smaller female molly A LOT. Especially when it comes to food. Is this a big problem? I know that stress on fish is not a good thing and can help lead to illness.

Problem with that, I take it you only have one tank, right?

Anyways, iof so, you might want to add more decorations. however, the suggestion made before is good if you can separate them.

I have added more decorations but this problem only seems to be getting worse, my female silver molly is becoming more aggressive  I'm not sure how I could separate them...what if I introduced more fish (of different kinds) to kind of balance it out so it's not just my silver molly pitted against the black one...???

It depends on how big your tank is and what kind of 'other' fish you are thinking about.

I have a 10 gallon tank with only two female Mollies and wanted to add one or two more fish. Fish that are probably similar to Mollies in temperment and size, a peaceful fish, and rather hardy too. I was thinking maybe some Platy or Neons...? Any advice as to what kind of fish would probably be best...?

I don't think that adding other fish would do much if it's territoriality between species.

It's worth a shot, but you have to make sure that you want to keep the other fish that you add to the tank.

Funny as this may sound, but in my early days of fish keeping my one male platy was being a real pain to everybody in the tank, so I put him in a fish breeding net box thing that hangs on the side of the tank, kind of as punishment :D and after that he never did it again. :p

Well yeah of course I'd want to keep the fish, I would like more fish in my tank ^^ I just feel that with more fish, my silver molly won't be the top dog or bully anymore since there'll be more levels to that pecking order so the dominating won't be so extreme and one sided...

i am going through a similar situation with a female molly and a female platy... molly beats up on goldie (the platy) whenever she sees her, nipping and chasing. i haven't seen any real damage yet. there are plenty of hiding place and distractions as there are about 10 platy and molly fry in the tank, but she just picks on the adult platy....hmmm.... -_- :/

Hi,
