after researching columnaries, I doubt that it is this. It re-occured one day but was gone the next, and I doubt that after neally two weeks since I first noticed it, that if it was columnaries and with no treatment - would they still be alive?? I think not.

Water changes can clear it up, and if it was a mild strain the water changes would of helped clear it up.
