;) Last week, I bought two male blue/white fancy tail guppies. I had them both in a quarantine for a few days while watching for disease. The new guppies were very active and healthy, so I decided to release them in my 46 gallon tank which has mollies, platies and more guppies. The instant I introduced the new arrivals the fish started chasing after them and nipped them in an aggressive way. :-( The mollies and platies were the ones that went after tham, but a few of my other guppies joined in. The platies are the smallest fish (around a inch long) and the mollies are the largest (aroudn 2 inches.) I dropped food into the tank, but the fish ignored and continued to chase the guppies. I immedniatly move the new guys into a breeder, but tried to release them 3 more times and the fish continue to attack them! Now the new guppies (in the breeder net) frequently nip at each other but I have nowhere else to put them. I never had this probelm before! Please somebody help! :/

Possibly a fight over territory, as they are new fish entering into the old fishes established territory!

Thats been my thoughts on that, as i've had this many times entering new fish!!

Goodluck Joe!

i would keep them in there for a wile maby a week or so and then try puting the new fish in at night wen its dark out so they cant realy see them? i dont know if this would make any diffrance or not. its worth a try.

Rearange the tank and then put in the new fish if that doesn't work you could go get some fish tranquilizers or move all the agresive fish to quarentine and move them back slowly. But rearange first.

:( Well, the reason I didn't rearange the tank first is becasue most of the decorations are large, like a temple and cliff. Unfortunatly, my quarantine tank is only a one gallon plastic container with an air pump and heater that I also use as a hopital tank. The fish that chased the new guys were in a big group, like a dozen of them going after each guppy! Most of the fish are females, so look at my signature to see what other fish are in the 46 gallon tank. I never had this probelm before! A few weeks ago, I was forced to move all of the fish from my 29 gallon (that was a total of 14 fish!) to the larger tank and the fish got along great with them. I don't know why they don't accept these guppies? -_-
