Hi everybody!

I inherited a complete tank from a friend a few months ago, since he was leaving to study abroad. I have noticed though that some fish are very shy and hide the whole time in the plants. I wondered what I could do about this?

The composition of the tank is as follows:
1 dwarf gourami
1 female betta
8 red eye tetras
6 neon tetras

The tetras are the ones that are in hiding. Even at feeding time they don't come out, and wait until the food slowly sinks. The tank is 80 litres (around 20 gallons) with a temperature of 24 C, filtering with a canister filter (capacity 55 gallons) and heavily planted.

Thanks in advance!

As far as i can tell, the tetras are probably the smallest fish, so i guess its normal for them to be shy.

And im sure that betta is going to be a little problematic aswell.

as far as ive read some people can get on ok with female bettas in a community tank (i being one of them)
but with a gourami :S if im correct i think ive read somewhere that they cant get together due to the gourami picking on em...
could be wrong im a learner too :)
