Why should I tell you?
My aunt has a new house with a pond, its winter so the koi dont need to be fed yet
How do I do the water changes? Should I turn off the filter first?
I dont want these fish to die. They are DEAD expensive.

still a bit early yet but if you want to do the water change then as long as the pump is on the bottom i dont see a problem
you need to syphon off 1/4 ..25% of the water and then top it up
before you do that though id recommend checking the stats with a test kit if all is within acceptable levels then i wouldnt bother changing the water ,a well established pond will find a balance on its own eventualy ,i tend to do water changes during the summer only becouse of the algae build up during the winter months i dont bother ;)

unless the tank is inside you don't need to water change the pond unless you have chemical problems.

even if it doesn't have a filter.

just check your levls make sure there ok then forget about it again.

as soon as the weather starts to warm up the fish will begin to be more active ,i still feed the odd handfull of wheatgerm pellets on the warmer days maybe once a month if its mild ,if in doubt feed live food ,i know its not common practice but i fish as well as keep fish and wild fish feed all year round on all but the coldest days
a few pellets or bloodworms wont hurt the fish and if there hungry they will eat ,id start feeding properly little at a time round about the back end of march :p

We don't need do a water change,we have a leak and top the pond up every week, soon as it warms up new pond being sorted out ,i want it ...

longer
Wider

and Deeper :)

Dad,s told me to dig it then :grr: parents
