I have had mollie fry several times but this is my first batch of guppy fry! :D They just might be cuter than the little mollie fellas! The momma made me think she was going to be pregnant forever. She was getting so big I thought for sure she must be bound up or something and couldn't imagine her getting even as big as she did.
I have no idea how many fry we have as she actually got under the breader grass and had them there. Unfortunately some of the mollies are small enough to get under it to so I am sure I lost some as snacks :X . Well, nature will help keep my tank from getting over stocked! :/

Since this is my first time with these tiny guys and gals I noticed that they have a little clearish sack under their bellies. My wife says it is a food source pack of some kind (kinda the left overs from the egg). She learned about it in a biology class in high school. (She is much younger (11yrs) than I am :hyper: and remembers high school........ :S )
Is this right and does anyone know where I might find some closeup pictures of this?

I am so psyched!

Congrats Mr Bink,
It is a wonderful feeling to know that you are doing something right in your tank that your fish decide to honor you with poppa hood. Lets just pray this isnt the start of an outbreak.....lol

Hey congrats mr blink on your new arrivals :D yes they are very cute  . I have guppy fry but no platie fry wondered if you could give me some advice of what i'm doing wrong?

Goodluck and lets us know how you get on.

i  my guppy babies

Well bligfish...oh thats "b i g fish." Kinda like "B i n k" not Blink. LOL :/ just messin'.

If you have good water, a male and female I can't see how to keep FROM having fry. How long have you been trying and how many of each (m/f) do you have? What size tank? Are any fat?

Sorry my eyes are abit  I have female blue mickey mouse platies, 1 female red wag platy and a yellow platy/swordtail so thats 1m/3f.

Water chemistry is 0 Ammonnia, 0 Nitrite and 25mg/litre of Nitrates, complete water changes every week and feed them a varied diet of flake and freeze dried food.

I'm just abit :/ as to why they are not breeding, male doesn't seem interested in what he's got :(

Yet i can't stop my guppies from breeding!!! 3 pregnant guppies

Not real sure but as I have added more plants to my tank I have noticed that the platys and swords all seem to sniff each other a lot more. Maybe its the CO2 I got and its lowering the Ph. I have no clue.....I went for close to 2 months and nothing and then BAM out of the blue they all have seemed to get frisky......lol

I read somewhere that Mollies/Platties/swords can hold the sperm for a while before becoming pregnant. I am thinking you just dont have enough and since Platies and swords are a bit different they may not "want" each other at this time. I have Marble B/W Mollies, Common, and Sailfin. Seems to me that they actually prefer to mate with the ones that are closer in size and color. Just what it asppears to be in my tank.

Every lfs I have gone to, especially the reputable ones, say that mollies will bread very slow if you have less that 6. I have never had less than 6 so couldn't tell for sure. :D
