First Time Fish Buyer...

Well the tank I showed you only cost, I think like $7 or $8 dollars. Also I have this 1g tank this is in the shape of a triangel and it only cost like $10 or less at walmart.

you wanna come shop over here in the Uk then mate, if you wanna see rip off prices.

So true not called rip off britain for nothing, lol.

Yes I think shape matters because say for example you got a 2ft tall tank that is only like 5" long the fish could only got up and down but if you have a regular shape tank they can go up,down, left, and right.

lol i dont think i want to go to UK... i never been there but thanks for the offer

what about betta's food... what the most inepesnive food out there

if you're on a budget, try this

go to big al's

they sell 5 gallon tanks for 9$, which is cheaper then most glass bowls. Buy 2 or 3 silk plants for about 5$ each or go to walmart and buy a pack of 3 for 6$.

Go to canadian tire and buy a bag of sand for 3 dollars.

All this is less then 20$

If you want to get fancy, buy a small air pump and sponge filter for around 20$, or simply do 100% water changes every week.

they also sell 2 gallon glass tanks, but the price must be around 8 or 9$ as well.

This is what I use...http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3635102... Its worked great for me so far. The tank will give your fish a little more room. The tank also comes with a lighted hood, so that you can see your fish better. It also comes with a small filter, which will keep your tank clean, and minimize changes. Although do keep in mind that you will need to buy rocks or gravel, and plants. Also the filter will need to be changed one a month($2 for a new filter)

As for food its cheap, I would reccomend Hikari Betta Bio-Gold. It's $2, and should last a few months at least. You may also want to get some freeze dried blood worms. There about $2 as well, and will help diversify there fishes diet.

5 gallon isnt too much, acctualy I would say that you can't really get a tank thats tooo big, probably wouldn't want to go bigger than 10 gallon though. I would definately reccomend a filter for a 5 gallon.

I know that Petsmart sells 10 gallon aquariums for like $10
You could try looking at ur local petsmart for a 10 gal. tank, but not for the fish. The petmnart associates know nothing about taking care of fish :rip: . no offense to all of you that work at petsmart and know a lot about fish :/ . One time they recommended a 2 1/2 gal. tank for my cousin to get an oranda goldfish, that get to be about 10 inches!!! So i might consider if you wanted a bigger tank to get it @ petsmart, and to get your fish from somewhere else
!

I agree with bettasplendous. I just gave him petsmarts links cause they are easy to find. You can find that stufff anywhere.
