First set of guppies

I joined the fish forum on April 16th asking a question for my girlfriends 10g tank. I ended up buying guppies for her that evening. We noticed that one was fatter than usual and had a dark gravid spot. On the 20th, we went to buy a breeding net for her, and i put her in. We were afraid that she wouldnt be ready and that she'll be lonely for a while. Low and behold, tonight, as i come home from school, there's 20-21 new babies! My girlfriend was hollering and hootin out of joy

I came here to find a new "set" of fish for her that will make her happy, and guppies did the job

the mama is plain beige with just a red tail. We'll see what the babies come out to be, how long will it take? i crushed up 3 flakes in my fingers and the babies are eating that, i also took the mom out of the breeding net.

The little buggas grow so quick though.....mine are nearly adult size now and 4 months old

It can take as little as a month or as long as 3 to 4 months to start showing color in the baby guppies. It drives ya nuts waiting.

when i was taking the mama out of the breeding net, a baby got out into the 10g, and i cant see to catch him. After he runs from me, he keeps going back up top to the breeding net with his brothers and sisters and just watches them.. hope he can survive out there,i cant catch him.

Easy way to catch fry is to use a turkey baster. Many fry can't escape the suction
