Well first off i'd just like to say hi. im new to this forum and new to keeping a saltwater aquarium, and ive got a few questions.
This is my setup so far:

-30 gallon tank(36x12x18)
-living sea hydrometer/thermometer
-Stealth 150watt heater
-Coralife lunar aqualight deluxe lights
-Eheim 2213 filter
-1 Koralia power head(flow rate 2)

i just want to get an opinion on this, is this decent setup for a newbie? if not what should i change?
will the one powerhead be enough?
Im using RO/DI water, when i test water params what do i want nitrite, nitrate, PH etc.. to be?

any help you can give would be great, ive read through some of the articles on this site and ive learned a ton. seems like most of you know your stuff.

thanks,
Dave

only thing you may want to do is add another powerhead....i rekon another koralia 2 would be a gd idea. And with the 2nd one you can angle it upwards so its makes a decent movement of the water surface to allow for a gd gas exchange.

but as for the rest of the equipment it seems on to me.

And tank stats idealy want to be as follows:

Temp 26 - 28c
salinity 1.021 - 1.026
Ph 8 - 8.5
ammonia 0 ppm
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 0ppm (though getting 0ppm is hard as nitrate is the last stage of the waste breakdown)
calcium 400 - 450ppm

Yeah I would go with another powerhead even with the Eheim return.
I have an 85ltr aquarium with an Eheim 2217 and 2x powerheads.
Are you going with Liverock in your tank.

:hi:

My only recommendation for now is that if you are REALLY going to get into this, you may want to look into getting a refractometer over a hydrometer. Much more fun to use and less messy...not to mention accuracy.
