Thinking about starting my own 2ft, how do you get on woth evaporation at this size with an open top, im running a 20l and it evaporates alot!

thank you, I think I lose about half a cm a day! so quite a lot really. just prefer the look of an open top tank!

Decided after gaining some advice from my LFS to add RO water, Have used 50/50 RO and tap water. And today I have added a pair of blue German Rams and 10 Galaxy raspora, will try get some pictures later on today

Thanks mate am really happy with it at the mo! thanks for the advice on softening the water... went to a lfs and got exact same advice, seems to have worked a treat!!

Jealous of your rams Jay, its geting more lush in there too.

Im planning a 2 ft soon and am going to try to soften my water, will be attempting it with specific substrates though before i try RO

Thank you, yeah got a lovely young pair of rams, very happy with them, they are always out where as the galaxy raspora hide if I go anywhere near the tank... if I watch from my bed they swim out in the open though.

The hairgrass looks lovely. Mine never really spread that much just sat there I assume your growth is down to the CO2. Have to say the Power head I got made a massive difference a lot better growth and clearer water generally. Whisper quiet is the Koralia 900 Cant remember where I got it from but was very impressed.

thanks, yeah the co2 has made a huge difference to plant growth and health. thanks for the info on the powerhead too, it was delivered monday but no one was here so will need wait till thursday before I can pick it up!!

Cheers mate, would Celestial Pearl Danio be the correct name instead of galaxy raspora? as I understand they are not a Raspora?, and yes they are a lovely fish. Yeah the rams are beautiful went to a few shops before deciding on the pair I have, they are tiny less than an inch long at the moment, very colourful though.

Galaxy rasbora used to be an old name for this fish but it has now been offically classified as celestial pearl danio. Lovely fish and so are the rams.

Great to see the pearling in your tank! I love the scape.

thank you, am thinking of buying a aquanano 40 and keeping the CPD's in there as after further research it seems that they prefer a temp of around 25c, I currently have mine set at 27c for the rams.
