First Attempt On A Planted Tank

I like it better this way. I will look even better once everything fills out.

The stem plants will grow fast, so you can cut the tops off and replant to fill out the rear.

I know what you mean about a lack of posts in the planted section, it's dead now :(

Yeah, shame. I used to get a lot of posts when i came on here like a year ago.. :/

And urm stem plants   << Shows how clever I am.

And thanks Jmiller, your opinion is appreciated :good:

The tall plants with smaller leaves, that grow out of the stem all of the way up and are on the right hand side, if you cut them in half, and replant the cutting you'll double the plants in a few weeks, it looks like Hygrophyla and it grows fast!

At least you got a response in your journal. I'm still waiting for mine. Grumble, grumble. :grr: And that was during the weekend. :-(

The tank looks good. :good: Right now, you're in the filling out stage. You need to focus on growing the plants and getting enough cuttings that you can create a scape. For now, you can try grouping the plants into closer groupings. Still plant individual stems, but put them closer together, and keep species together.

Aww poor you :( I feel special now

Thanks here are some more updates. The swords have loads of little ones coming from the bottom and the java moss is going mental :good: Java fern is doing good but leaves of vallis keep breaking off

Well, you could go and make me feel better about my tanks by posting a comment yourself. :)

I'd remove that browning leaf on the sword, though. The rotting leaf is a potential source of ammonia.

Will do :D And do i take off the just the brown bit or just the leaf or the whole stemmy bit?

Oh wait which one do you want me to comment on?

No remove the entire leaf from the base of the stem. If you remove the brown part, the rest of the leaf will just brown. Better to nip the problem in the bud.

You found them! :good: Thank you very much.

I'm really trying to bring back this section. So the more actively we post and develop a sense of community, the easier it will be.

i love angelfish!!!!!!!! and yours look really nice

Thanks they really are lovely. They are the centre peice fish and they certainly rule the tank. No-one dares to come near them when they're eating an algae wafer  I got them when they were tiny but now... woah they've grown quite a lot, i love their colours as well.

As for the vallis i think thats a good idea as well :) Last trading post has 20 stemlets for £3.25 :shifty: The thing with vallis is it always breaks off because i keep fiddling with it :look:

lljdma we shall bring back the planted section :hey:

-Lucy :D
