Following lots & lots (& lots lol) of reading & research, I have decided to try to breed my Betta's, i'm all set up, using the advice on the bettalady site & some helpful advice from a new ex-betta showbreeder friend.

I wish I had a better camera to take piccies, but mine is useless, i'm using the phone camera & will take some when I can & update the thread.

The pair have been conditioned for a week on bloodworm & daphnia plus a few Bio Gold pellets, the breeding tank is all set up & yesterday I placed the male in his side & the female in hers.

This morning, the female is showing very dark vertical stripes & the males has made a impressive bubble nest in the polystyrene cup I gave him.

I am going to introduce them in a little bit, kids are at school & baby will be off for his nap. so I can keep a close eye.

Wish me luck!! I'm such a worrier & love my fishies so i'm going to be a really nervous betta mum for the next few hours

Ok, so I introduced them & am slightly  at their willingness lol, Mr Darcy & Elizabeth got straight to it, after a little flaring, she went under the nest & they embraced almost straight away.
Here is the embrace: (I love this piccie)

I have just updated the original post with piccies, they are still going now, about a dozen eggs I think at each embrace, he is being really gentle with her, so proud :good:

Wow what a gorgeous pair!!! I bet they have stunning babies!

conrats on the breeding, my babies will be two weeks old on thursday. It's so cool watching them grow, and what beautiful parents your have. Can't wait to see them coloured up x

Thank you everyone, they are all finished & mum is back in her own tank for a little tlc for a while, one small tear in her tail & two little marks on her head, dad is guarding the nest like a good daddie.

I will be watching very impatiently to see if I have any little wrigglers in the next 48hrs.

Congratulations! I also just had my first spawn and it's so neat! Please keep us updated with pictures!!
