Well, would a male kenyi be good with a firemouth or would they just be confused as to what each other are?

It depends on the individual fish. I'd think in general the Kenyi might pick on the FM.

Yeah that's one of the things I was worried about.My mom was all like go for it, but the only fish she's ever had were goldfish and plecs.So,I only did this to prove my point to her.

I've seen much stranger things happen successfuly, tho. You could try it some time when you have a lot of time to watch over them to see how it goes maybe?

I might be misreading your post but it sounds like you tried it? If so, how did it go? I'd love to hear your experience if you gave it a shot.

Bad combination i'm afraid - for starters Kenyi are Herbivores and FM's are Carnivores so feeding is a problem straight away. Water requirements are also very different and i would expect the FM to suffer aggression-wise. All in all - not a good idea.

Only way I'd think this would work is if you did other cichlids mixed in as well, so the FM isn't picked on all the time.

Bad idea , The requirements and diet are totally polar oppisites. Some have mixed ca and africans with success but its not recomended for the beginner. If you tell us what you want more the fm or kenyi then we can get you going in the right direction.
