Firemouth And Convicts

Hi cheers for answering
Thinking I might go 2 firemouths and 2 tbars , then 6 -8 shoal of tetras or barbs ?
Still worried about the it is not gravel but not sand either , it is like small clay balls almost like coco pops lookalikie  but more red , this will be ok for the cichlids? they are smooth and quite soft to touch , love the effect as has natural look to it

Have you got a picture of the substrate? I have not seen what you are describing myself, unless its a type of cat litter, I have heard people using that before without problems a none clay type (dont know exactly I know nothing of cat litter lol)

Hi I bought it from my local aquatic shop . It looks like small clay balls . It looks very similar to red sea flora base but a different brand .  I think is leterite substrate.
The lad I spoke to said it was very good even for cichlids and I asked if needed to put substrate over the top he told me no need as it has no sharp edges and is soft and cichlids are ok with this, There are only 2  men there that I trust for info and he is 1 of them .
hope this helps

If its from a shop then I guess it must be ok, its not something I have come across though.

2 Firemouths, 2 sajicas (t bars) and 8-10 dithers (depending on size) would be perfectly fine. I would recommend Buenos aires or red eye tetras.

Hi Cheers for your answers . I will be going for 2 firemouths and 2 Tbars with some tetras
Just got to get tanked cycled now so will be a while before adding fish but will be worth the wait and hopefully what was in my tank will be gone as totally striped of every thing and starting fresh
Thankyou for everybody advice
