Good day guys,

I had a pair of fire shrimps a while ago and one of them died 5 month ago, since then the other one were too shy I almost never see her. She is always in a cave. I was wondering if I can get her a friend now, if its safe? I mean another fire shrimp maybe smaller one or can I get another breed of shrimp? peperming or cleaner.
I want to add it so maybe she wont be hiding anymore.

What do u think.

Thank you for your help.

I asked a similar question a day or two before you and the answer i got is that its fine...they like company

yeah, I have multiple shrimps and hermit crabs in my refugium, they all co-exist happily. I don't know if adding a 2nd one will help your original one come out of hiding more though.

Perhaps it might if he feels more secure with his own species around.

Thank you guys, I forgot to mentioned. I also have a flame hawk fish, can he be a problem for shrimps?

Chances are the hawkfish will cause an issue. They eat shrip so it would be natural that it would attack your firs shrimp. As for the shrimp hiding, it is completely natural for them to stay out of the way, usually only coming out after dark or during feeding. Adding another fireshrimp probably won't help him to come out

Agreed, the hawkfish will not like the new addition. If you are to succeed, you'll have to add the shrimp at lights out

Even still, the hawk will eventually get him. I'm surprised that the original shrimp has lasted so far.

Also agreed. Flame hawks love shrimp. I've had a lot of success with adding additional shrimp to a tank and them all becoming more social. They definitely enjoy company.

oh man... when I was buying hawk I was told its a very calm and safe fish for reef aquarium.
Not sure what I can do now. Shrimp is doing ok but I dont see her anymore at all. She hides behind the rocks
Hawk cannot get her there but I am worried that she might die of hungr. Is it possible for her to eat at night or hawk
can get her at night too?

Thank you.
