Fire Eel Feeing Methods

for life a jardini needs a 6x2x2=180g good luck on the possible new tank

6x2x2 Minimum size tank for a Jardini.

Jardini's grow to around 32" so the tank size must be wider the hight is fine and the length is fine but it must be deeper 3feet deep would be better. :)

Whos got a 32" jardini then?

I've not heard of anyone with a jardini over 26" in captivity and an average is less than 24", my own one is 20" and has shown any growth in length for nearly a year, although it has grown much deeper and thicker.

When I bought the jardini I was bearing in mind that I have read that they only grow to about 24". BTW CFC what do ou keep your Jardini with?

when you read they ONLY grew to 24" didnt you also read the recomended tank size needed for one?

I did, but then also when I bought it I said to my LFS that I only had a 5' tank and they told me that they would tke it back off my if I had any problems.

I was interested on both.

At the moment I have a 3" jardini and a 4" giant gourami in the same tank. I am planning on getting another 5' tank in the near future though.

im interested in your gourami, how long have you had it?
is it a red tail, golden, albino, etc?

My jardini is kept with a dorado, an oscar, a pike cichlid, a pair of severums, a couple of bichirs (ornate and delhizi) and 3 lima shovelnoses. There is some aggression toward the oscar from the jardini but the oscar is big and dumb enough to take it and this means the other fish are left alone for the most part, though there are occasional torn fins and missing scales on the others but nothing that isnt fixed with a bit of melafix and clean water, its just one of the hazards of keeping an aggressive tank.
Before when i kept the jardini with my rays, liearius pictus and peacock bass the jardini was constantly harrassing and biting them so had to be kept in a divided part of the tank until i got the second large tank to remove it to.
Any tankmate for a jardini needs to be either fast and aggressive, large and dumb or be a substrate dweller which stays out of the jardini's way, once the jardini takes a dislike to a fish the aggression is relentless.

lol well at the mo my 3" jardini is kept with a pair of sevs. a pair of mouth brooders a fire eel an oscar a sailfin pleco, basicly in my largest tank if you view my profile. He looks really cool in my tank and I think it is great to watch him eat, however only eat fish that are meant to be eaten lol.

your jardinis growth rate is gonna be so much quicker than the rest of your fish its just a matter of time before you have big problems judging by your stocklist that is

hmmmm :/

When I bought it I knew that I would have to get rid eventually so I was expecting many people to tell me this.

red tails are nice colourful fish jardinis are a bit plain in comparrision.can i see some pics of your 3" jardini please?
