Finnally I Got My 55 Gallon Aquarium!

Today me and my Dad went out and bought my 55 gallon aquarium. It is so cool. We are buying the rest of the lumber for the stand tommorrow night. So hopefully I can put water in by thursday/friday. Well I just thought I would get it out there. Also whne the water gets in ill post pics asap. Im pretty happy. It ended up costing $193 for aquarium, lights/hood, filter, and heater. Pretty good deal eh? well thanks for time. and please tell me what you think.

cool can't wait to see some pics...did you consider buying secondhand? If I ever get a bigger tank I think I'll go secondhand.

Not a bad deal for a brand new 55 with lights, etc. And your dad is building your stand? That's great!

You (and your fish) will be very pleased with a 55 if you're not used to them they are a world of difference from the 29s, 20s, and 10s.

i can't wait to see it. are you going to have a community tank,planted or unplanted,or a mbuna tank. Basically do you have an idea how you are going to stack and what about your landscaping.

I am going to put black gravel in so the corys will show up good. I also am gonna plant it. Heres a rough list of what I think im gonna do. Always room for improvement.
2 Angelfish
6 giant danio
6 albino corys
2 pearl gouramis
1 sunburst platy
1 paradise fish
1 black molly
and some kind of sucker.

Thats kind of a rough draft of what I am doing.

it's not a neccessity but cories love sand...and from what I hear they are much more entertaining in a sand environment.

Actually my birthday is in a month. so the stocking is good right? and i will look in to black sand.

won't go with black mollies without the tank being brackish, but apart from that quite a nice tank.

how tall is the tank? for angels it needs to be 18inches at least more is even better though.

what sort of 'sucker' were you looking for?

the tank is 18' tall. amd i have no idea about the sucker.

do not buy a common or sailfin plec plz. They get huge. There are a few algae eater threads in the pinned topic sections...let me see if I can find a link or two.
