Semi-pointless post, but I'm just so relieved to finally see something going as expected. Today I got my first positive test for nitrites, so I've finally got some conversion going on in trying to get these tanks cycled! I was getting so frustrated because I kept having ammonia spikes, but always 0 nitrites so I felt I was making no progress in the cycle. I also noticed that the growth of algae that was happening seems to have come to a stop. Fingers crossed that things keep progressing, I can't wait until I reach the point where I don't have to worry over the water parameters daily!
