Finally My Flowerhorn Has Arrived

hi mark
nice lookin fh u have there
bought 2 myself a few months ago an put them into a 5x2x2ft tank.things were fine at first until 1 bullied the other and was taking all the food for himself.in turn he was getting bigger than the 2nd one so i moved it to a 4ft tank.the growth difference between the 2 was crazy as the 1 gettin all the food was twice the size and the hump on his head started forming.the weaker 1 now has plenty of food for himself and is commin on leaps and bounds.i feed mine frozen bloodworm, shrimp, brine, pellets and there favourite is earthworms which are great for colour and growth.flowerhorns are 1 of the most aggressive fish i have ever kept.imo they are more aggressive than piranha and i kept them before aswell.i have tried to house other fish with flowerhorns but none survived too long.fantastic fish but the only downside is u need a big tank for 1 fish
best of luck with ure new fh

hi. many thx for your input and tips, i am very happy with him, at the mo he is in my cichlid tank till new one arrives, so far he is doing well in the tank, he is well and truly down the pecking order at the mo so till his new tank is set up then hopefully he will stay there, i thinki am going to have to try earth worms for food, never tried it before, i do think flowerhorns have got to be one of most colourful fish, i know alot of people wont agree but my friend bought a flowerhorn parrotfish and is only about 1 inch or so in size but fair play i think that is going to end up a smart looking fish,

anyways thanks again for your comment,

a friend of mine visited me last nite for a bit of a chat about fish
he was the one that told me about the earthworms and he worked in fish shops all his life
he told me not to put any fish bar a pleco in with flowerhorns as there hump(kok) wont develope as much and they wont colour up as much
might be worth lookin into
anyone any input on this?
