Hi everyone! I havent been on in a while but just wanted to come back to say i finally got my tank. In the end due to lack of ££ i decided to go with the Fishbox 60 from PAH. It is 64L. I have had it all set up and running since last Thursday and im taking a sample of water to be tested today. I have 2 large pieces of bogwood and some live plants in there. I'm not quite sure what the plants are so i need to look into that....anyway, I am hoping to get some Galaxy Rasbora's, a Plec of some kind and some Yellow Honey Gourami. Will these all be compatable together in my tank (once its definatley ready)and what other fish could join them?

Thanks for any help in advance! ;)

Congratulations. Personally I've always bought second hand, if the website price is accurate (£119) to give you some sort of comparison I got a Juwel Rio 180L tank and stand with T5 lights, CO2, 2 Eheim externals, a Fluval 4+ and more bits and pieces that I could ever use for £130 second hand. But that's an extreme example (the guy concerned wanted his fish to go to a good home.) There are lots of deals to be had on Ebay/Aquarist Classifieds/Gumtree though.

In terms of stocking, you need to be careful about what plec you get - a lot will get too big for that tank. Personally I'd get 3 oto's instead. 6-8 galaxy rasboras, a honey gourami and 6 pygmy corys would be the most I think you'd get away with - but should still be an attractive setup.

Oh, and hopefully I'm teaching you to suck eggs but make sure you read up on cycling if you want your fish to survive - in the 'Your new freshwater tank' there are some good stickies.

I had been looking at 2nd hand for a while but nothing seemed to be available and i couldnt wait any longer! I havent seen Oto's before, i shall look into them, thanks! Only 1 gourami? I thought they were best in groups of 3 or more? I'm sure i read that somewhere.... :/

Oh, yes i have read about fishless cycling. I wont be getting any fish until my water is ready.

Personally I'd go for one, they're fine by themselves. The group of 3 I believe is referring to getting 1 male to 2 females (rather than 1:1) as a single female can be harassed by the male.

ETA:

Something I used to do was set up a saved search on ebay - any fish tank or aquarium within 10 miles of where I lived. I'd check it once or twice a week and I put in a few low offers on the off chance I won.
