Hi everyone,

Its been awhile since I visited here but I finally grew the gonades to buy a 29 gallon for my fish. It was about time to since my 6 inch algae eater was getting a little cramped in there.

My list of fish are the same but heres the list again anyway:
3 black ruby tiger barbs 1 male 2 female
1 albino tiger barb
1 green tiger barb
2 panda cories
1 algae eater/loach/siamease/chinese (don't know really)

I'll probably buy another pc
other than that do you guys think it's possible to add more fish, maybe a gold nugget pleco or 2 dwarf gourmis?

Anyway heres my pics

Thanks guys,
I'll put a background on it because without one it makes the water look yellowish when you take a picture.

heres my ae

I'm pretty sure that is a Siamese algae eater (not Chinese). they are very good algae eaters and should not bother you other fish. it also could be a flying fox, which is hardly as good an algae eater and a little more aggressive. I'm not sure what the difference is, but it's most likely you have the SAE.
Great fish. :D

Sounds to me like you have about 15 inches of fish in your tank right now......I think  . Anyhow, you could put UP to 30 inches of fish in, I include the tail. But you'll have to take darn good care of it. Good filtration, at least 2 33% water changes a month (in my opinion this is realistic). I think the people who say to do water changes every week or whatever are nutto ;) . I personally try to stay a little under the 1" of fish per gallon rule. More like 1" per 1.25 gallons which gives the fish a less "cramped" feeling in my mind. Gives them more room to form seperate territories and all. That would be about 25" of fish in your 30 gallon, same tank I just got Thursday. My end load will be about 25" of fish. I'm not going to add any more after that either.

To make a really long ramble a tad bit shorter.....I would, or could, add about 10 more inches of fish (at maturity) to your tank if you'd like! :p

Your algae eater is most likely a Chinese Algae Eater. They eat some algae when small but prefer food later on when they grow out (like one your size). You can add a few more cories to keep yours company. They should be the entertainers of the tank.
Silver, I hope know you the Inch per Gallon Rule only applies to small fish such as neon tetras. Would you put a 15" Oscar in a 30g?

Genreally super high tanks are treated as their normal brothers.
29g USA tank is really just a 20g in most respects. Foot print LXW are the major factors Hight has little help for fish.

Modernhamlet: I went to that site and I came to the conclusion that it is definitly a chinese algae eater, the only problem is is that it has a blackish/brown spot on the end of its tail and none of the pictures I've seen have this spot. Maybe my fish contains a hidden gene or something :dunno: :D
Anyway thanks for the replies

UMMMMM! NOOOOOOO, I wouldn't put a 15" Oscar in a 20 gallon or whatever you said, DUH!!

What IDIOT would think that was okay.......HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!

:grr: :X :sly:

Adrinal,
I think my tank is one of those tall 29 gallons too. Should you keep less fish in them?? I only plan on having 25" of fish in there tops....NONE OVER 5" a PIECE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
