Stay away from aggressive fish like barbs, danos, gouramis, angelfish and catfish and select fish that are the same size as the betta and will not grow larger. (The betta may perceive small fish as food and larger fish might think the betta is food.)

I've had enough of this troll and his many aliases. T'was fun while it lasted. I'm sure he'll be gone soon. In the mean time, he goes on ignore. Just like his parents did with him -

African dwarf frogs are also good with snails which aid in keeping the tank clean. I highly reccomend them. Hopefully you go to a GOOD pet store that sells them.

You can't leave drama alone can you? You must live off of it. GET A LIFE!!!

Im so hurt. I hope u dont go thru life with such a stiff neck...a stiff neck means a sore bottom...or in your case...no respect. Not once when i was talking to u did i try to downgrade u..and look how u have been responding..whatever man...obviously we see who the bigger man is. Anywayz hope u dont go thru life being ignorant. U cant dispute what i say and u know it..therefore u have to attack me in different ways... When u go to bed think how foolish u acted.

Im sure the mods will be pleased to c how he carried himself on this topic. hah what goes around comes around. hopefully he dosent learn to late. Kids these days.

Bettas get along with most other fish, and what you really have to watch out for is the fish that harass Bettas. Bettas are slow moving fish with very long fins, so they can't be kept with any quick fish that have a reputation of fin-nipping, like zebra danios. They get along swell with most variety of tetras such as small neon tetras or some of the common livebearers.

HOWEVER BETTA FEMALES MAY BE KEPT WITH OTHER FEMALES. FEMALES ARE LESS ATTRCTIVE THAN MALES BUT ARE JUST AS NEAT FOR HAVING IN A TANK. LOOK FOR BETTA FLAKES. THEY SEEM TO PREFER THAT FOOD THAN THE PELLETS...PLUS IT HAS ADDED BRINE SHRIMP.

Suitable tank mates are non-aggressive and non-territorial, and must need the same tropical water conditions as the betta. Keep in mind that most fish will need more aeration in the water than bettas. It may take some work to find a happy medium for all your fish. Try guppies, mollies, or any of the tetras. Algae eaters should be avoided unless necessary, as they may try to "eat" off your betta's fins. You may also consider other aquatic animals such as snails or African dwarf frogs. Regardless of how gentle a fish you buy to go with your betta, be on the lookout for any rogue fin-nippers and be prepared to move them to a separate tank. If your betta's fins appear ragged or broken soon after a new addition, take action to remove the offender and keep the water clean to prevent infection.

Good lord what did i do for u to yell at me? (All CAPS) lol

i would just like to add that if you should go with female bettas with the 10 gallon you must have no less than 4 or 5 bettas to even out aggression issues that these little buggers have. (female or no, they are still bettas...) Also, if you are to house female bettas you must have plenty of caves and hiding spots for them to hide in or rest in. Finally, with these numbers you wont really have much room for anything else at all. So i would prolly stick with one male betta and at least 4 cories. (im not sure of how much of a bioload shrimp create..) I personally think your original stocking is great if not a little overstocked...just do plenty of decent water changes. good luck to ya (if youre still even reading these posts!)

Nice informative post

I was the first one who answered this post about tank mates. You are the one starting drama.

As far as I can see noone started any drama. Just experienced fishkeepers corrected the misinformation in your first post. The stocking is fine for that tank.

People aren't saying that ADFs don't exist nor that they are always mislabelled, but they regularly are worldwide, not only the chain stores that don't care, but also some pet/fish shops that aren't specialist in frogs and buy from the description they are given. We all know that this happens which is why research is sooo important before buying fish.

Another bit of bad advice you gave is put the bag in with the fish and let the temp equal (or words to that effect) temperature is only 1 consideration whe acclimatising.
The water in the tank will have different PH, different Nitrate, Kh, Gh. The fish should be put in the tank in the bag, and then every 15mins put some tank water in and tip some bag water out to give the fish a closer match to the water you're gonna put him into.

If he was in ph6 tank in the shop and you just match temperatures and then transfer into (for example) a ph8 tank you are gonna have 1 poorly fish that may not last the night.

The original poster has got a good stock list there 5 fish and 5 inverts (which make negligent amount of waste) is excellent.

The 1 inch rule is OK but has limits. yes it is good if you are talking your standard small fish, but if you are buying plecs (Of small and large maximums) or any other wide bodied poop machine fish you cannot and never use this rule.

Also if you look at the types of tank that are being soldnow without any warnings (i.e. the tall pillar tanks) Tehy are 100 Litres or so but you cannot use this 1 inch rule here ever because the surface area is 1ft by1ft and there will be hardly enough oxygen available for 25 litres let alone the tank size.

I am well over stock but my tank is very heavily planted. I have no fish casualties, and no gasping at the surface. Different circumstance diffeent rules.

You need to weigh up Tank Volume + Surface Area + Type of Fish + Type of Filtration + Planting + Amount of surface movement and many othere factors.

It may seem to you that I am following you every where but this is not the fact. I read a lot of threads and you are appearing in everyone giving bad advice, or being abusive.

As to your 5 users, would that be like Worzel Gummidge and his interchangeable heads (3 of them abusive. 1 of them Know it all, and the last 1 time wasting)

As I said in another thread if you PM me again with any abusive language you will be reported to the MODS.
