so i have had a 5 gallon betta tank forever it was one of these plastic eclipse bow front ones... it was ok but on my last cleaning i noticed that on the bottom it was started to get stress cracks on it... and i just had a birthday... didnt actually get a present but did get some ectra money... so i decided to treat myself and my little swimming friends...

i bought an 8 gallon biocube... and i love it so far... so much more swimming room for Lunar and his underwater friends... i have been keeping a very close eye on the stats because i didnt have room to cycle this one and have the fish in the old one... so i used all my old gravel, 50% of my old water, it is heavily planted... and i rinsed my old filter media off in the water... so with a couple water changes a week for a few weeks hopefully i have no ill effects...

as soon as i get my camera charged i will take some pictures... all i still need is some taller plants (this tanks alot taller than my last)

All my Inmates:
Male Betta (Lunar)
5 Endlers
1 dwarf clawed frog
1 Zebra Nerite
5 cherry shrimp

couldnt wait to take pictures... so here goes...

Thank you Silver! like i said i will be very pleased as soon as i get some taller background plants... but ill wait a little till everyones had a little bit of time to settle in...

He is lovely!

If he is happy, which he looks it, he won't flare  but it may amuse him, watching you trying to make him flare lol

If he is coloring up more, since the move to the new tank, that is a very good sign x

Why would you even care if he flares? He is a beauty and flaring is simply an act of aggression when a male spots another male. There may be days when he is not much interested in his pellets, live endler fry are on the menu on those days.

no endler fry will ever be on the menu... lol i have only males so that in such a small tank i wont get over run by endlers... have yet to see any baby shrimplets though... i may have all females now.. but i know some where carrying eggs when i got them... so i would assume that either the dwarf clawed frog or lunar ate them... he is such a pig at times... i never have a poblem feeding him anything i put in the tank...

not that i want him to flare i know its stressfull... but if he EVER did lol you would be able to see all his beauty!!!

Beautiful tank set up, and your boy is gorgeous :D

Thanks all he is wonderful... great personality!!!!

Very nice! I have been think about getting a biocube and setting it up for a Betta Splendens, but I wanted the plants to thrive. Yet I couldn't figure out if I should use a CO2 reactor. Has anyone done this? Flluval flora is 30L or 7.9G, but I like the looks of the Biocube -- it would help keep out the cats. I was thinking if using a dremel tool on the Boicube and adding a CO2 cartridge-type accessory. What do you folks think? Be kind, I'm new at this.

I don't use any co2 just fertrilize with my weekly water changes and all is doing great actually just had to thin my plants out and gav e a bunch to my sister

Lovely tank and Lunar is certainly very beautiful, too!

unfortunatley i think Lunar is getting old... i noticed a few weeks ago he will kinda just float in the current and actually flipped over in a plant at one point... and he spends alot of time sitting on my intake to my filter... (has a sponge in it) so his fins dont get any damage... he is just getting less and less active over time... and that wasnt normal... still will flare but no longer is interested in the other fish and just Chills...

as i write this he is sitting on the intake with my dwarf frog watching me...

Poor Guy...
