I've never had a sick fish my whole life. Lately I've been noticing that one of my angels top fin is , i could best describe it as losing surface area compared to the other angels. Its like his fin rolled up and he has a toothpick coming out of him. ( I have 4 of em all together). 2 of em are about 4 months old i had since there were babies there about 4 or 5 inches now and i just picked up 2 more babies last week. I've checked my water and everything is normal. How do I treat it. Will just medication cure it

Is it one of the new ones who has it and did it just appear or has it been quite gradual?

It could be one of the other angelfish nipping his fin..sometimes mine does it
I just use melafix to heal it but I have been advised to separate them if it carries on.

However it could be fin rot..in which case you can treat with medicine from your lfs and it should go away. What is your water quality like though?? High reading of ammonia and nitrite can cause finrot as well as stress.

Its one of the older/biggest angels. The 2 big ones I bought as babies together and they never leave each others side, so i know there not biting fins and the the 2 little one never leave each others side. Its only on the silver big angel now and it looks like the baby silver one is getting it a little bit also. The two black angels appear to be fine. I also have to dwarf gouramis in there that might be biting at them but for the most part I've never seen anything fooling around. As for the water quality the ammonia is 0 -.5 in there. And i havent checked the nitrates i have to get a test kit for that. Also come to think of it they might be gettin a little stressed these past few days I've been rearranging the tank and gave away alot of my little tetras to make it a mainly angel tank with the acception of the gouramis. But i think I've noticed the fins b4 i started moving stuff around

Have you got any pictures?? When you say its got a toothpick coming out of him do you mean the fin?? Are the edges of the fin red (bacterial finrot)or white (fungal finrot)
Also does it look kind of ragged??

i just got home and checked out the angel. I would say the top fin looks a little red but from what i remember it was always that way. And when i said looks like a toothpick i meant the top fin in like folded over not all spread out like a sail on a boat as my other angels are

I'm not sure..Have you tried melafix?

And is it getting better or worse?? If they rip their fins it usually heals quickly but with finrot it will get worse.
