Fin Rot Meds

My new platy's fins are pretty torn up, and I'm affraid fin rot will show up soon (like the last platy, although it looks like her's is already clearing up). I wanted to know if anyone could suggest a couple different wide range antibiotics that they've had success with. I figure I should have something on hand anyway.

Hi,

I like "Melaflex" which is readily available in the US and I would assume the UK.

It doesn't seem to effect the biological presence in the tank and the fish heal up quickly with it..

The suggestion is to remove the carbon, but I never have..if the carbon is more than 5 days old it shouldn't interfere.

If you keep up your water changes you shouldn't have any problem in the future.. Platies are often in bad shape when you buy them..
