Fin Rot Meds With Loaches

One of my Guppies has fin rot, and also the other guppies are not eating, I have 2 Cloud Leopard Loaches, will they be okay with the meds? ( Tetra anti fin and fungus med)

Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5
Temp 25 C (should i turn this up to help the disease cycle?)
change 25% water every week
Tank been running 6 months with no problems (did a fishless cycle)
Stock - 4 Cardinal Terta, 5 guppies, 2 loaches, bog wood with java fern, sand

Is the fact that they are not eating a normal
any advise appreciated

Forgot to say, my guppies are allways bothering each other, the one with the fin rot gets bullied and fin nipped, how can I solve this?

im afraid i know nothing on leopard loaches and meds but can answer your guppy question.


if you have a ratio of 2 males and 3 females you need to increase your females so stop bickering between males.
if you have to many fish in your tank (what size is it?) this will cause fighting as well
if all are males the ratio is wrong, male guppy will pair up so really you need 6, if they are male then the one that hasnt paired up with another is prob the one whos being bullied and on most cases die from this reason, if you need to add more male guppy dont just add 1, you will need to add 3 to create 4 pairs of males as its also dangerous for a single guppy to be added to a mature group, only do this if you have the space to add more fish ofcourse.

Hi, my tank is 60L, and they are all males, I did have 6 originally, but one vanished about 3 wks ago? they have always been this way, showing to each other. Don't think I want to add anymore, probably get bullied also with being new? thanks

Just look at the meds cautions and directions. Most mardel products are now made to be acceptable for use with invertabrates and scalesless fish, but it is always a good thing to surf the meds on the web or read their directions.

Whats your PH? Probably very acidic in lancashire and not ideal for guppies, you need to check it and post back on here.

generally i only do half the recommended with loaches as they are scaleless

Cloud Leopard Loaches are likely Botia Kubotai.

Medications that contain substances like Malachite Green, Formalin, or large amount of Salt should be half-dosed with loaches. Many anti-fungal meds include these components.
