Fish Fanatic
I have had several aquariums over the years and have always used an undergravel filter - first with airlift, then with powerheads. Last year my 55 gal split a seam and dumped on my new carpeting I finally got the courage to start over.
I would like to use some of the new filter technology out there. I don't even know where to start with all the gadgets I've seen. I have an enclosed wood stand and would like to keep it close to the wall if possible. I think I would also prefer to keep as much hardware out of sight as possible. Quiet is a must - there's nothing more irritating than a silent, peaceful tank of fish with a buzzing pump down below.
I also want to do live plants again. I had some success with the undergravel filter, but I know circulation around the roots is not good. What are some good recommendations for gravel? I prefer darker, natural colors.
