Hi, I already have a fluval 304 on my 90 but I think I need more. Do you think my AquaClear 150 would be enough? Also the space behind my tank is limited so I can't have one of those huge HOB filters. Thanks :)

Capacity wise, you are right, the 304 is not really enough if your tank is fully stocked. The AC 150 would add the necessary capacity, but isn't that a hang on model? I though you couldn't use such a beast?

Ya the 150 will fit behind my tank but I saw one AC 500 at the lfs and it LOOKED to wide but I am not sure. Does anyone know how wide the 500s are? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that a AC 500 is 4-1/4" 'deep' (that is, that's the required clearance behind the tank wall).

I'm certain an AC 300 is 3-7/8" deep.

I just measured behind my tank and it is about 4 and a half inches clearance. Guess I'll have to save up for a 300 or 500 :D This hobby is so expensive and addicting :)

Have you given any thought to getting a second canister, say an XP1 or XP2?? That way you have a backup in case the Fluval dies at least until you can get replacement parts.

I am running a 404 for main on my 90 gallon but I also have an XP1 to drive my UV. You can never have 'too' much filtration

>>> Never can have too much

You can actually. If the filters are generating to much current for your fish, (lake fish low energy environment fish), it can cause stress. In a planted tank, it can remove CO2. There are other scenarios.

I have an Aquaclear 500, a Fluval 404 and an Emperor 280 on my 90 gallon......that's probably too much.....

The fish seem to like it anyway. *nod*
