I currently have a Top Fin Power Filter. It's one that hooks over the back of the tank, and sucks water up through a tube and filters through a sleeve full of carbon. I have been thinking of switching to a new kind for a few reasons.

What do you guys reccomend? (assume price isn't an problem)

Stick with what I have?
Undergravel?
Submersable/Internal?
Bio Wheel?

In the summer I will be changing my whole tank around... Taking everything out and starting from scratch. I will probably be switching to sand subtrate, but staying with mostly fake plants... I just don't have any luck with real ones.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

if you're going for sand i wouldn't really recommend the undergravel.. why not go for a power external canister filter.. top of the range...

I can't argue about canister filters or bio-wheels, both have been proven to be effective.

Undergravel filters however, are best left alone, they make excellent biological filters but degrade water quality over time.

get your self a eheim 2213 or 2215 canister you have a 35 gallon so get the 2213..it is a great filter easy to use and its so quiet you dont know its there.it pricey but its worth the money...i bought mine at dr fosterandsmith for 80 dollars, its 100-120 in the store good luck
