Fish Crazy
I'm trying to remove very small particles from my water.
100g tanks with plants and two large pleco catfish (who enjoy uprooting plants!) I have an XP3 filter made up with a course sponge – biologic climatic tubes– active carbon – and some fine filter material. I have also noted a major drop in water flow.
I have ordered an Eheim 2028, with ehfimech- medium filter - ehfisubtrate and fine filter material. I was thinking of letting the eheim do the biologic work and the XP3 do the mechanical filtering.
Is there a better way to arrange the filter system using these two filters? Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Also I have 16mm tubing, which is building up a large amount of scale (flaky stuff) inside the tubing. What is the easy way to remove it – it looks like I'll need to do this monthly!
Finally
I have live plants and I have concerns about the balance between water flow within the tank and its effect on oxygen absorption and Co2 depletion, my current oxygen levels are 2-3mg/l. my surface area is 5 feet by 2 feet and 2 feet deep and only have 7 fish. The two catfish that look like they are having breathing problems i.e. fast breathing non of the other fish are effected, I have installed a small air feature which produces a large air bubble to disrupt the waters surface. Current temp 26-28. My plants do grow quite quickly. 200watts of light and no co2 supplements.
Cheers
