Oh, I am not in the UK....I am in Washington D.C. I just have clueless lfs in my area.

Thanks all! I actually went to another store and bought a Mini Penguin BioWheel filter.

I have two "Whisper" filters and they make virtually no noise. I've had no problems with them. Set up was easy. The filter is easy to access and remove. I'd recommend them. Wal-Mart has them, at least up here in the Midwest.

The Penguin BioWheel filters are made by MarineLand Aquarium Products. I e-mailed them for a UK distributor. They gave me the name "SnowCrest", which someone told me is a wholesaler, however, they must have a list of retailers they supply.

SnowCrest said something along the lines of "Eh? Never heard of them. Oh yeah... they're that American company. We don't sell them to the public."

You should go to a lfs. THEY will know what your talkin about. Walmart is eh.. iffy. Most dept stores are.

biowheels make extra trickle noises, my aquaclears are THE quietest filter i have ever seen, you (im not at all exagerating) cant tell when they are on or off, and they are very good filters as well.

go for aquaclears, i have peanguins and they make much more noise.

waaaaaaaa!

I bought the Penguin biowheel filter for $24.00 already. Yes, it does make a little trickle noise, but still MUCH better than my Hagan. MUCH BETTER!


hhhmmm, no noise at all would be nice, considering I have this thing set up in my bedroom. I'll deal though...the water trickle is more tolerable than the Hagan "hummmmmm". THAT I cannot take.
