Help, I’m so lost. I just bought an aquarium from my neighbor and I don’t know what filter or how many I need. I have a 50 gallon tank with 8 Marineland (model #PF0330B) filters and 4 Marineland (model #PF0170B). He also gave me the under gravel filter with air stones. I want to set up a freshwater tank with tetras. Which filter should I use? If I use one of the Marineland ones, do I need 2 or just one?

I have the heater, thermometer, and décor but is there anything else that is a must?
Also, if you know a link so I can download a manual for the above model numbers, please send me the link.

I'm looking forward to setting up my tank and then getting some tetras after the water settles.

Thanks,

Christy

Hi christy welcome to the site, I'm moving this to the hardware section where you will get a better response :)

Thank you for the link for the 330! I wish 330 was written on the bottom of the filter

Few more questions. :)

If I use 2 of the 330 filters, I don't need any other filters? That is enough to keep the water moving and filtered?

I have Stress Coat right now but I will check out the article in a few.

Christy

2 of the 330s on your 50g should be more than enough to keep the tank very well filtered as long as you don't over feed and have the tank stocked within reason.

Stress-coat is should be all you need to treat your tap water. It removes Chlorine and neutralizes Chloramines. It's the only thing I treat my tap water with. :)
