i am starting up a second 3ft tank and i was wondering wat filter would be best. i want to purchase a fluval. which 1 is best?? 104,204,304,404??
and how many gallons is my tank. (its the tall type of tank)

Thanks

Now i keep a 3ft tank, my dimesions is 36" X 18" x 12" which is a tall tank so i think i can help ya...

Furnival 3 plus is best for a 3ft tank, the gallonage would be 24 gallons...

I would also advise on getting a undergravel filter and a power head too, this would make sure you get a full circultion throughout the tank and maximise the filtration of the tank, and you will be enjoying a nice fish enviroment... I show you a picture of mine soon once i got them of me camera

;)

Just my opion but I would keep away from under gravel filter they are a nightmare, epsecially when they go wrong.

just my opinion keep away from fluval, period!
eheim cannisters are far superior and you have a
wider range of media that can be used in eheims.

price wise the classic range is similar to fluvals but as i said, far superiour.

I go with wolf on the eheims, heard good things about them.

Quality is better.

Why not just get an eheim ecco or the 2213,2215 they aure good filters to I believe and they are about $60.

I have two eheims, 2231 and 2234, Both very good and top quality. My latest tank has a Fluval 204 and I don't know why I havn't tried them before very good too. Bottom line, you get what you pay for. If you can get an external they disrupt the tank less when doing maintenace, when I clean my internal filters, Fluval 4+ and interpet 2 it makes a right mess of the water as you take them from the tank.

Hi Italian_Stallion :)

I agree with DannyBoy17. You should at least consider a HOB filter. They cost less to buy, and can also cost a LOT less to maintain. Plus, you can add additional filter media if you want to increase the carrying capacity of your tank.

I use AquaClears and highly recommend them. The 200 or 300 would work nicely for you, depending on what you plan to put in the tank.

They come with a sponge, charcoal and some other porous, rock like material that is supposed to be replaced regularly. I only use the sponge and fill the rest of the chamber with inexpensive filter floss. With regular rinsing in used tank water, this same material can be used over and over until it begins to fall apart.

thanx for the advice everyone. i have a 3ft already runing and when i started it my lfs advised me to use and Eheiam Aquaball 2210 internal filter. was this good advice?? it does the job but i want something that is more powerfull because i feel that this filter is very weak. maybe i am wrong. more anymore advice would b great.

one more question, wat is a HOB??

thanks

Hi Italian_Stallion :)

HOB stands for Hang On Back, and describes filters that are, except for an intake tube, completely outside of the tank. :D
