If that's powerhead, as I believe it is, that will hook up to the air inlet and provide you with air for the bubble making portion. You don't have to use it, but you will only be moving water rather tahn providing any aeration to the tank. Not that it provides much, but still.

There should be an air inlet nipple on the powerhead somewhere near the output. As the water rushes past this (inside) it sucks the air in. The black thing on the end of your air line is a silencer, but you seem to be missing the top of it.

I thought that at first, but the CO2 bubbles wont stay in the water long enough.
I suppose if you had a fairly large coil of pipe attached to the output then the CO2 would be almost completely dissolved. But it would have to be a good length of pipe. The pump I have pictured is a 700 L per hour which is about 0.19L every second.

i have the cap on the black bit i just didnt picture it,
but i have it all connected and everything but i thought bubbles would be pumped out aswell as just water but nothings happening just water coming out
is there a way it has 2 be set up 2 make bubbles come out?

ok you see the 3 grey bits at the bottom of the above picture.
the in in the middle will have a nipple to attach the airline to.
this then goes into the hole that is in the main body of the filter.

with the airline no more than 6 inches below the water level it will draw air into the tank via the 'venturi' effect

ok thanks, so i have everything done properly it would seem so if i just play about with the depth of the pump then with any luck it should kick in, il let u no soon if it works

nope still no bubbles, is there a rule for how long the tube needs 2 be, thats the only thing i can think of.
i may be clutching at straws though

There isnt realy a maximum length fot the air tube. As long as its long enough so the black silencer at the top of the tube is out of the water then it will be fine.
Have you got anything connected to the output of the pump? Sometimes things connected can restrict the water flow and the water doesnt move across the venturi fast enough to suck the air in.
Another thing to check is the air inlet nipple (The bit I have circled in my original pic). Make sure its the right way round.
In the pic below is the nipple taken out.
If you cant take it out, have a look down the output tube and see if the manufacturer put it in right.
Another thing to check is to turn the top of the black silencer. there is a small cut out that you can line up on both pieces or take the silencer off completly.
If that doesnt work, see if there is a blockage. Remove the silencer and blow down the air pipe.
If thats ok and everything else thats been mentioned is ok, then I'm stuck.
Oh, another thing, do you have a pic of the powerhead just so I can see what type it is.

everything is normal i can blow down it and make bubbles myself but thats pointless,
its just like the normal pump connection there may aswell not be a nipple bit on it bcoz it makes no difference
its starting 2 annoy me actually
