a decent filter for a 20 ltr tank. It only needs to be small, most that I have seen don't contain carbon...

Thnx Lorna

for my 25ltr tank i had a rena filstar iv1 but it has no room for carbon
you could ust fluval 1plus this has room for carbon and polly polishing pads :good:

I use a Marineland 150 Bio-wheel on a 20gallon.
I also use a Marineland 200 Bio-wheel Filter on another 20gallon.
On a 2.5 gallon tank, I use a Red Sea Deco Art Nano filter.

I'd recomend the 2+ really, as the 1+ doesn't have room for carbon, and is probably a little small for the 20 gal. Also, do you actually need carbon? Most people take them out of their filters and save them for when they are using medications. They aren't needed for day to day filtering.

excuse my little knowledge, but what is carbon? I hear everyone saying it.

I got a small aqua one filter and it has two things that can slide in and out, 1 is a piece with white filter wool, the other is a piece with little containers of black pellets.

The little black pellets are the carbon.

where should you save the carbon if you take it out. i hear people say bake it but theres got to be a better way?

Hiya, I've heard you can bake it but its just easier and very cheap to buy replacement carbon for the pet shop. With some filters you need to buy the unit which contains the carbon, still inexpensive.

nvm, i vacuum packed it. the carbon filter has 2 bags of activated carbon , 1 bag bag zeolite in it and is fairly new so i'm not ready to replace it yet or run the risk of ruining the zeolite
