Filter Vibration

Hey guys. After a little help, My neighbor keeps coming up every day complaining about my fish thank saying hes getting humming noise all night and he cant sleep

Is that even possible? What a filter

Tell the neighbour to stop sleeping under your tank, as his snoring stresses the hell out of the fish, causing the tank to vibrate.

or change the filter maybe :/

LOl the filter is quiet actually gives of a little humming but his bed is right below my fish tank and the floorboard are thin. Just realized how much noise i been making at nights. He hears the lot

Is the tank on the floor then, or is it on a stand? The floor can't be that bad if it holds the tank, as with a little bit of "bad" luck you might not have a neighbour one day :fun:

Lol its on a stand

So the humming noise is going from the filter, via the tank and stand, through the floor and straight into the neighbour's ears

If the tank/stand/filter is not the cause, but just the floor is thin so any noise can be heard, then it is not your problem. He can complain to the building engineer that approved a floor like that. I mean with all respect you are entitled to make some noise in your own apartment to an extent, even if it is snoring at night or similar

Yeah true i tried moving the filter about last nigt with no joy i got so pi#*%d off i turned on 2 air pumps put them on the floor and slept right through it all. Waiting for the knock now

Ha, ha.

Well, that's a solution. The humming noise from the filter can't be heard anymore :hey:

I am only joking. I know it's hard with neighbours and noise complaints sometimes. I had to deal with one about my dogs when I moved to a new house. The dogs were barking at night contstantly, but mind you that was not a humming noise:lol: and the dogs were in the backyard. Until the dogs settled in the new house I had to take them in the house at night to make them stop. But that wasn't an issue with a building quality though. In my previous place I could hear the television speech in the neighbours and all they did at night time :grr:

my flat walls are so thin you can even hear the neighbours sneeze ... they'd never get to complain about my fish tank vibrating though ... well they could try but they'd have to deal with an angry goth and I think I scare them anyway without losing my temper :hyper:

You could try dynamat, but would be cheaper to just buy a new filter probably.

It must be a hell of a vibration from it if its an internal one going through the floor. Is it on its way out? In which case a new one might just be the best option.
