hello every one i have a 12" jaguar cichlid and he will not stop taking the filter tube off and it is really annoying and i cant just reach my hand in it to grab it because he will destroy my hand and there is no way i can just do it really quickly i tried that once and it did not go well on my part so is there a way to stop him from doing that he has two marineland emperor 400 hang on back power filters.

You could try an internal filter i guess... Then there's nothing for him to break...

Intake or outlet tube? I have the same problem with one of my oscars. For the inlet tube I had to get a huge lump of bogwood and rest it against the tube to stop him taking it off.

The spray bar was a different matter. I cured this by getting another spray bar, not attached to the filter and sticking that on the back glass, this way he took that off and not the one to the filter. Next you need a long set of grabbers/tongues so you dont have to stick your hand in and get bitten when you have to retrieve stuff. Or if you can get some small wood branches/sticks scatter these around the tank for him to pick up and play with keep him off the filter tubes.

ok cool he takes off the intake tube its the only tube on this filter so maybe i will get a piece of drift wood for him my LFS has some pretty big ones thanks :)

Ok, i understand about the filter. I've been in that situation so i get it. And when you get the driftwood, soak it in a bucket of water unless you want the tank water to change colour, probably a tea colour
