Filter Tragedy

Hi all, just wanted to share my loss with you all, as i have just loss my gorgeous betta Prince.

I checked on him earlier today, when i cleaned his tank abit for him, and my dad just checked him abt an hour before i did, and he was fine and dandy, but when i checked on him i couldnt see him, so took the lid off of the tank, and saw him jammed solidly between the filter and the glass.

i dnt no how he managed to wedge himself there, but i do know he had gotten himself so tightly jammed my tank had to literally tugg at him to pull him out, only to find the poor lil fella was already dead

Im so upset that he didnt make it to see him new home that ive been planning for him for the last 6 weeks!

but im going to redesign the new tank, and use an under gravel filter system, so this cant happen again. and ive managed to find a stopper that will go in the top, so no1 can get into it.

im just so upset, i loved him so much, and he didnt even get to see his new home.

So sorry to hear that Filtration can be a nightmare for Bettas because they have a tendancy to cram themselves into tight spaces

sry caroline, i worry about my female betta doing that, she trys to fit behid the divider to get to the male and on one occasion got stuck, i saved her in time thogh and fixed the problem. rely sry about prince, he was a nice fish and i know u liked him alot

Sorry to hear about your loss. My Matrim does the same thing every now and then, but fortunatly I have found him in time to rescue him. I worry though that one day I might get home to find him stuck and dead.
