Filter Size

Cheers man :)

If it were me I would go for the 205 if I could afford it (all my external filters (except for my hobs) are Fluval :)

As were mine but, i have found the wonderful world of TetraTEC. My 205 and 305 both became noisy after cleaning when about 8 months old... I still have the 305 running as i just got used to the noise, but the 205 is in the cupbord as it is waaaaay too loud. The TT's are silent and hold a lot more media than the Fluvals. And the pipework is better quality too, as are the plastics and build quality. Also, Fluvals are usually a little little light on the media included from new.

Thats unfortunate!

I've used carious fluval externals for years (some of mine are first generation!) and never had a noise problem.

I've had no real luck with their internals mind you, but have found the externals reliable and silent!

I guess with everything its down to individual experience :)

Whats wrong with the 206 (rather than a 205)? Or an eheim classic? Never tried a tetratec but heard nothing but good things about them.

Yep, sure is. Would love an FX5 or maybe a G6

Wats the difference between a 205 and a 206? I don't know anything about eheims. To use an americanism, I'd like whatever offers the most bang per buck really, I'm on a really tight budget!

BBA what would you personally suggest in terms of bang per buck then?

The e701 JBL says it filters 700lph (same as the tetratec ex700): http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/filters_pumps/canister_filters/jbl/210139#more
