Filter/Pump making a weird noise

Ever scince my last water change my Filter/Pump has been making a weid grinding sort of noise.

Maybe you can try to add some water in the filterbox.
That solved my noise problem.

What kind of filter is it?

Mine does that when I need to either change the media, or give it a good washing in tank water.

Well when did a water change the pump went off when i was emptying the tank and didnt come back on till about a minute after i refilled it.

I don't know what filter/pump you have, but I know that a lot of pumps/filters that are immersed in the water aren't supposed to be running when they're out of water. Whenever I do a water change in one of my tanks that uses an immersed pump/filter, I alway disconnect the pump until I've finished the water change and only then do I switch the pump back on.
