Filter Problem

Hi i have a Hagen style tank a Tropiquarium 88 model to be exact along with an internal bio-life filter, how ever i checked my filter and it doesn't appear to be working as good as it should, i have checked all the pads and have rinsed them all out under some old tank water and put them back but it hasn't made any difference.

What else could be the problem?

Check the impeller inside the pump - it might have some plant debris twisted around it or something.

Ok thanks alien anna i didnt think of that, it's a stubborn filter as it don't pop out easy!!!! so i could be some time. I know that i need a new air valve coz the current one is broken.
