The bacteria can live somewhere around 20-30 minutes without the filter running, longer if kept moist but not for extended, repeated periods.

And during feeding usually a 5-10 period. I switch of the filter. any body else like to share there experiece??what do you lot do? As for external canisters which is what I am planning to get next, I guess its not really feasible to keep turning that off?
