Hi i have a 4 gallon tank with built in light and pump/filter and wondering if i leave this on all night. Will my fish be able to sleep?

Yes. If not running, a filter will dry out, killing beneficial bacteria and prompting a new cycle.

Leave it on 24/7/365. All day, every day of the year. The bacteria can live somewhere around 20-30 minutes without the filter running, longer if kept moist but not for extended, repeated periods.

What are your tank parameters? Do you have fish in at the minute??

I have a futher question on this.

I have a rio 125. And during feeding usually a 5-10 period. I switch of the filter.

any body else like to share there experiece??what do you lot do?

As for external canisters which is what I am planning to get next, I guess its not really feasible to keep turning that off?
