Hi
I am thinking of converting my current freshwater tank into a salt water variety. I currently have an aquastyle 90 litre tank which has a filter built into the hood. Current media is sponge and ceramic rings.
What i want to know is can i use this as a filter for a saltwater aquarium or do i need a different kind of filter/media. i am planning on having a fish only with live rock tank.

you only need living rock with power heads for the main filter in saltwater, also i would recommend a sump under the tank with a skimmer and some media in bags like carbon or rowaphos, for get sponges in marine they are breeding grounds for nitrate, living rock is all you need, in the sump you can add algae to help illiminate nitrates, some also add mud or sand, either way it is better than sponge filters a definate no no :good:
