i bought a full malawi set up tank, filters and fish ie the lot, the 2 external filters are a fluval 205 and a 304, both had charcoal in them but i removed them, the other filter media in each is the standard sponges and biomax rings which are standard with the fluvals. There are 3 chambers in each and i am only using 2 in each with the biomax rings. what else should i add to my filters to get crystal clear water without reducing the flow ?
the fluval site says replace the biomax rings every 3 months is this necessary or do they last forever like other similar media like this ?
