Hi all

Read something online today got me thinking about the postion of my inlet and out pipe so looking at my tank I have both mine on the right hand side of the tank outlet point towards surface to create a slight ripple on the surface my inlet pipe sits 3 inch above the substrate so is this the best way to have them I also have a secondary circulation pump where the best postion for this.

Thanks in advance

I have my inlet/outlet at opposite ends of the tank. That way your inlet is taking in as much water as possible that hasn't just come from the outlet. My circulation pump is at the top, back right of the tank pointing down slightly at an angle into the tank. Watch closely at your plants to see if there's gentle movement, also when you feed, where there's good movement of food or not.

Hi

So your circulation pump and filter inlet are on the same side both right?

Having the outflow nozzle at the surface pointing away from but directly above the intake strainer positioned a two or three inches above the substrate will give the best circulation

That's how mine is now so I guess if I place my power head next to the outlet aswell this will improve the circulation further right.

depends what's in the way of the flow, and if you want to reduce dead spots for planted tanks in a bid to prevent algae growing, adding a power head will not increase circulation through your filter.

Your right it won't but it should increase the flow around the tank which is what I'm trying to do
